Description: There is no doubt that sound is crucial for creating an immersive and emotional experience, but when it comes to learning how to play a game – through instructions, menus, user interfaces, player orientation, etc. – most gameplay information is completely visually driven. Is this divide necessary? In this talk, you’ll learn about the history of interaction sound design and where it has brought us today in games. You'll also learn what approaches sound designers have taken to enhance player engagement and accessibility, as well as who benefits most when they can learn with their ears.

Targeted public: Sound designers of interactive experiences will find themselves most at home during this talk; however, experts in UX design, UI design, accessibility, web development, and pro gaming will find many takeaways for their own fields.
