The Mindful Dev: How to survive and thrive in games

Date : Tuesday, November 13th - 13.15 - 14.15 > 511A

Description: Four speakers deliver four personal and brutally honest talks. How do you take care of yourself in the non-stop world of video game  development? Have you ever struggled with yourself as a creator, feeling like your work is worthless and nobody will ever like or play it? How do you avoid mental and emotional fatigue; and how on earth will you communicate it to your team without feeling inadequate? If you’ve ever struggled with your mental health, work-life-balance or feeling like a fraud - come along and feel a little less alone with us!

Targeted public: This talk is intended for people working in all areas of game development - anyone who is at risk of paying more attention to their work than their own well-being.

Takeaways: Audiences are meant to walk away from this joined talk with a sense of community and belonging, knowing that they are not alone in their struggles with work-life-balance, how to navigate your creative output and taking care of yourself against burnout. We want for people to feel less alone, but also to find ideas for strategies to explore that might work for their own problems as creatives in a very demanding industry.
